Applications made under the Partnership Act 1891

From 5 July 2018, SACAT will have original jurisdiction under the Partnerships Act 1891. This will enable SACAT to make its own decisions under the Act.

Types of Decisions that can be made by SACAT

SACAT can grant or refuse permission for a person convicted of certain offences to carry on a business as a general partner.

Applications of this kind will be handled by SACAT’s Administrative and Disciplinary Stream.

Time Limits

There is no time limit for applications of this kind.

Before applying to SACAT for a decision under the Partnership Act 1891 you must:

  1. If you intend to apply for permission to SACAT, you must give the Corporate Affairs Commission (Consumer and Business Service) at least 28 days’ notice of your application.
